Hey everyone! Welcome to August’s horoscopes.

July was, arguably, the most eventful month of 2024 thus far. I don’t know about you, but I was at least three different people in July, and I’m looking forward to seeing how August’s astrology will continue to transform me and my life. The world, of course, is transforming too, and much of it has left us with so many questions to be answered. While August’s astrology may not exactly come with the answers we’ve been looking for, it will give us plenty to re-think, revise, and revisit. For most of the month, Mercury will be retrograde in Leo/Virgo, from August 4 to August 28. This three-week period encourages us to iron out any details that have been need of sorting, replace any technology that’s on his last leg, or review any contracts before signing. This retrograde will primarily affect those ruled by Mercury, so Gemini and Virgo risings, as well as those in a Mercury-ruled profection year. An honorable mention also goes to Leo risings, since Mercury will spend the majority of its time (August 14 - September 8) in this sign.

We’ll also be getting a Leo new moon on August 4, at 12 degrees. It’s honestly a pretty good lunation overall, aside from the fact that Mercury will be stationing retrograde on the same day. Aside from that, you’ll probably feel a surge in courage, enthusiasm, and confidence on this day, as well as a strong need to clarify any important information, or remedy any misunderstandings, due to the heavy Mercurial influence happening around this new moon. If you’ve been working up the guts to shoot your shot (be it at a job, person, etc), I’d do it now. You may not have the particulars fully sorted out yet, but the increase in passion and self-trust should help to carry you most of the way.

One of the most significant moments in August’s astrology takes place by August 14, as Mars and Jupiter conjoin in chatty Gemini at 16 degrees. This conjunction feels very yappy and conversational, for better or for worse! I think it’s a great time to share ideas or opinions even if they are half-baked (due to Mercury, the ruler of this conjunction, still being retrograde). TBH, I think it’ll be pretty hard not to talk and share information today, as Mars and Jupiter come together in this mutable, air sign. While the accuracy of the information we’ll be consuming today (or relaying) is questionable, I like this transit a lot for the development of new, exciting ideas, plans, and interests. Gemini energy is all about busying yourself with little tasks — mainly the kind that promote playfulness, curiosity, and mental stimulation. If you’re suddenly hit with a million-dollar idea today, write it down! Talk about it with your friends! It may not be the best time to execute, but it’s a great time for brainstorming. This transit will primarily affect Gemini risings, as well as Aries, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces risings — since their ruler(s) (Mars and Jupiter) will be involved in today’s conjunction.

Also on August 19, the Aquarius full moon takes place at 27 degrees, illuminating the Aquarius-ruled house of your birth chart, and bringing attention to the ways you seek to innovate and exercise your desire for space, distance, and abstract thinking. This full moon will be exactly square Uranus in Taurus, bringing some disruption, upheaval, and surprises into focus as well. When it comes to the current state of politics and the world at large, this lunation feels like a significant one. Aquarius as an archetype has a lot to do with progressive movements, liberation, and technological advancements, so we may some themes around these topics *cough, AI, cough* around this time. Mercury retrograde will also be involved, tightly opposing the Moon at 25 degrees of Leo, bringing news, information, and the sharing of important details into focus, too. I expect this full moon to come with a lot of revelations, and I’ll be going into further detail in a separate post later in the month.

The Sun shifts into Virgo by August 22, the mutable, earth sign of the zodiac. Focus will be placed on productivity, servitude, and prioritizing logical and accurate information. The biggest challenge we’ll face this season is that Mercury, Virgo’s ruling planet, will be retrograde/in its post-retrograde shadow for pretty much the entire season. This will probably make it a bit more difficult to organize, plan, and inform with accuracy — at least until Mercury re-enters Virgo on September 9. Personally, I find that Virgo season is when my health becomes more of a priority, as well as handling the smaller, less obvious tasks or to-do’s that I’ve been putting off. Virgo season is great for reminding us that details are in fact, important, even if they are usually overlooked. Maybe it’s time to make that *slight* change to your diet that you’ve been meaning to implement. Or finally get that weird little noise your car’s been making for the last six months checked out. Virgo season isn’t necessarily about making grandiose changes, but it’s about fact-checking, making improvements, and prioritizing accuracy. It’s not always fun, but it’s helpful — and help is always good. If you’d like to know more about how this month’s astrology will be affecting you, you can book a reading with me here!
