The Astrology of the Drake vs. Kendrick Rap Beef, Explained

Happy Mars Day everyone!

As a lover of all things hip-hop and Black culture, I have probably been a little too invested in the ongoing rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. As a result, the astrology of the conflict between the two rappers has piqued my interest, so I wanted to conduct this deep dive of the conflict on a platform that’s not Twitter or TikTok.

There’s been a lot of intense astrology happening over the last month (eclipses, Mercury retrogrades, etc.) and much of it has been taking place in the cardinal, fire sign of Aries. Ruled by Mars, Aries is the sign that governs over fights, war, and debates. Aries fights fire with fire. Rather than mediate, Aries understands that in order to win, you are oftentimes required to result to violence.

In the Drake/Kendrick rap beef, the first stone (as we know it, at least) was thrown when “Like That” by Future & Metro Boomin was released with a surprise Kendrick verse on March 26, just one day after the Libra lunar eclipse. In K Dot’s verse, he says “f*ck the big 3, it’s just big me” — a very on-brand nod to the fact that Kendrick is a Libra rising, and is currently in his first house profection year. I’ll be making a more in-depth post about annual profections very soon, because it is my favorite timing technique to use (and always insanely accurate). The profection year that Kendrick is in, as well as Drake, plays a major role in why this rap beef has suddenly come to a head after a decade of (alleged) sneak disses.
